Cruz Bay Custom becomes Engineering Intent Corporation

January 1, 2016

Medfield, MA - Engineering Intent Corporation is the new name for Cruz Bay Custom, the world’s leading provider of engineering automation solutions. The company structure, staff, and ongoing projects remain the same. The name is a return to that of a prior company where many of the current Cruz Bay employees worked in prior decades.

“The return to the name Engineering Intent is a recognition of the successes both of our current incarnation, as well as the prior company,” says Scott Heide, Founder and CEO of Engineering Intent. The original Engineering Intent was founded in 1995 by Mr. Heide, and was focused (as now) on being the world leader in developing Engineer-to-Order solutions for companies around the world. In addition, the former company developed and licensed the Intent software platform. Intent was a purpose-built ETO platform that supported many CAD environments, including Autodesk’s AutoCAD, Inventor, standalone (Parasolid), SolidWorks. Autodesk acquired Intent as well as other assets of the original Engineering Intent in 2005. Renamed Intent to Inventor ETO, which is now maintained and sold by Autodesk, and remains as the premier ETO environment for companies whose engineering work revolves around Autodesk Inventor.

Cruz Bay Custom was founded by Mr. Heide in 2009 after leaving Autodesk. “Cruz Bay has always been focused on providing tailored ETO and automation solutions for a wide range of corporate clients. The change in the name just helps to make it very clear that we are committed to being the best at what we do.”
